Raku Workshop at Mobile Museum of Art

Howard McPhail, Curator of Education & Outreach at the Mobile Museum of Art at the time, organized a small demonstrative workshop in the entry circle of the museum for August 22, 2013. A glass worker demonstrated glass working and Maria and a team of friends, students and one husband commenced raku firing. While an afternoon thunder shower washed off the work area, the potters fired three loads of Raku pottery in the clam shell kiln which had been dismantled, transported to the entry circle and reassembled for the occasion. Raku pots emerged and a great time was had by all including the small but enthusiastic audience.
